In less than two days you guys helped me raise 5000kr for the fee I need to pay when applying for ethical approval to start the study I am going to do for my Master's Degree in Reproductive and Perinatal Health at the University of Gothenburg. This study will explore Afro-Swedish women's experiences of racism within Swedish maternal healthcare, an issue that remains largely invisible but has significant consequences for the health and well-being of Black women in Sweden.

When I was struggling to find a way to pay for the fee, other than my savings account a thought hit me on a walk with my dog: Crowdfunding!

I have donated to crowdfunding before, but never tried to get anything funded this way. I felt a bit embarrassed having to ask people for money. But then I told myself “What’s the worst thing that can happen? If no one wants to donate I’ll have to pick up some extra shifts at work to fund it.”

I created the fundraiser and started sharing it on my social media platforms (I was supposed to be on hiatus this month!) and asked some of my friends personally to share it and donate if they could. When I hit 50% yesterday I was so surprised! And when I was 40kr shy of the goal this afternoon I was in disbelief! But Matilde decided she wanted to be the person to get me to the goal so she donated again! An extra shout out to you!

The total amount raised is 5500kr which means I will cover the fee on gofundme as well. Thank you!!!
