M.I.A.

There has been a lot going on so I haven’t been keeping up with blogging as I would like to.

Gothenburg

On Sept 2nd I started the Master’s Programme in reproductive and perinatal health at the University of Gothenburg. It’s a 1 year part time programme, so I will be done in May.

Along with this I’m working my regular shifts at the hospital, doing my Hypnobirthing courses and being a mom. So I am busy.

I started feeling a bit overwhelmed and behind on my studies two weeks ago. I had to remind myself that I am studying because I want to, not because I have to. And that since I have added a new thing I need to put some other things on the back burner for a while, and that’s okay. I don’t want to compromise rest and taking care of myself, so some other things hade to be put on pause.

So you may not see me being as active here or on social media over the next couple of months. I will post as much as I can and want to keep it fun, not another thing on my to do list to stress me out. We’ll see what the frequency of posts will be.

I am going to write my Master’s thesis on the topic I wanted to write my midwifery thesis on, Black women in Sweden’s experience of racism in maternity care. I want this thesis to be good because there isn’t much research on this topic with a Swedish pov so it feels very important to do a good job. And for that I am okay with it taking longer if need be.

It’s so exciting to deep dive into something you’re passionate about. I am really enjoying reading scientific research articles and gaining a better understanding of this topic. I get to write, which I love, and also learn new things. It’s exactly what I need right now as my job isn’t very stimulating or challenging.

So I hope you will have patience with me on this journey towards my Master’s.
